How to have Documents and Settings on a different partition
From Wsms
Your disks must be NTFS format. Make a partition (or use a second hard drive) that will be your Documents and Settings folder. Create a new 'Volume Mount Point' for the second partition. Name the Volume Mount Point something like 'Documents and Settings-New'. Boot your system with Knoppix and mount the hard drive r/w. Copy everything in 'Documents and Settings' to the new partition. Rename 'Documents and Settings' to something like 'Document and Settings-Old'. Rename 'Documents and Settings-New' to 'Documents and Settings'. Reboot and see if it works.
It doesn't work because you can't rename the Mount Point, even in Knoppix :(
The real way to do it is to use regedit as described in: http://windows.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/windows2000-l/changing-documents-and-settings-dir-to-a-different-drive-447191
Or maybe: http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t314372.html
Or maybe just make a new user with a home directory in 'Documents and Settings-New'. You can do that with the Local Users and Groups snap-in in mmc.
