totem is the default dvd player used in gnome.

You can play an iso of a dvd file. First mount the image:

root@mckinley:/home/ggeller/Desktop# mount -o loop image_file.iso test

Then view it with totem:

ggeller@mckinley:~$ totem Desktop/test
